Your website shouldn’t just be a static entity, it should change. New updates and pages, content such as blogs or articles, upcoming events with descriptions, and even revising old articles, will improve the Search Engine Optimization of site. On the other hand, a website that doesn’t change can be viewed by search engines such as Google as a lifeless site.

New Content Means More Indexing

Search engines use bots or webcrawlers that constantly scan the internet for websites. The bots will index a website based on a variety of factors determined by the search engine’s algorithms. Those algorithms will index a site based on a combination of factors such as backlinks, keywords, and how often the site is updated.

The search engines will recognize each update that is made to your website, re-index it, and evaluate your site’s ranking. In other words, if you want to improve the opportunity to rank higher than your website should be updated frequently.

How often should you update your website?

It’s a good idea to make updates as frequently as possible. Daily would be ideal but at least 2-3 times per week with high quality content.

Quality Content is Key

When you add new content to the website you are adding more keywords. Those keywords are used by search engines to understand who you are and what you offer. These keywords should be embedded as part of the content and provides quality information to the reader. Search engines prioritize keywords in the content on your website and it provides a destination for visitors to learn and grow.

By continually updating your website provides search engines fresh opportunities to crawl the site and index it. More indexing by search engines doesn’t necessarily translate into higher rankings by it improves the opportunity to achieve higher rankings. It all depends on the type of content that is added or updated.
